I am wearing 4 different layers so imagine what is going to happen when Winter really comes. This post is not about how to layer (I suggest you to read the wonderful posts Leandra Medine published about it), but the importance of layering in this cold. One of the golden rules about shopping is: buy a good Winter coat. I may buy one or two trendy coats in fast fashion stores that I know that are not going to last for long as expected, but I alway try to save money to buy a good coat time to time. Two years ago I bought a Carolina Herrera coat that I wore almost every day and I can tell you it still looks like new. Last year my brother and sister teamed up to offer me as Birthday/ Christmas present, a Moncler Parka and the same happened here. I think I won't buy another parka for the next 5 years (at least).
I still need a good trench coat (Burberry would be perfect) and a leather jacket but we can't buy everything at the same time, so I must be patient. This year I really needed a long cloth coat but I was not looking for anything specific. I found this Kenzo one for a good price and I didn't think twice. Like the Carolina Herrera and the Moncler one, I am sure that these are coats I'm going to keep and wear for a long time because they are made of good materials, have modern designs and timeless colors.
So this is the best advice I can offer you about layers. I waited about 4 years until I found a cloth coat that was worth it. Don't buy it just because is trendy and you see it everywhere. Buy one that you can wear in the next ten years. In the meanwhile feed your shopping instincts with something cheap but warm that won't make you regret. But this is just my opinion. Here I am: layering!
